Yubraj
Bhandari

Hello, I'm Yubraj.

I grew up in the plains Nepal, and I'm currently studying Physics and Mathematics at Duke University.

I spend a lot of my time thinking about physics, quantum computing, information and how we can use computation to understand nature. Along the way, I've found myself working on everything from simulations of quantum systems to medical imaging and air pollution in Nepal. I also enjoy building things, writing down what I learn, and occasionally getting distracted by questions that have nothing to do with what I'm supposed to be doing. Lately I've gotten into vibe-coding useful projects with claude.

This website is where I keep some of those projects, notes, resources, and thoughts. It's a work in progress, much like everything else.

You can read more about me, browse my projects and notes, skim my CV, find me on GitHub and Google Scholar, or just get in touch.

MatRecon — Physics-Guided CT Material Decomposition

I'm currently trying to understand how much information about the materials inside the body we can recover from CT measurements. It turns out matching the measurements doesn't necessarily mean recovering the right materials.

Differentiable spectral CT forward modeling, gradient-based inverse optimization, and identifiability analysis.

A Few Things I Care About

A little more about me

Good questions belong to everyone.

Through Unnchai, I mentor high school students in Nepal on quantum algorithms. I care about making learning resources and educational opportunities easier to find—and leaving room to explore beyond formal research.
